Dear pastors, brothers, and sisters, peace be with you! Welcome to the GLEC English Mission Hub News segment. This segment aims to provide real-time reports on various ministry activities conducted by our center worldwide. We hope that through your engagement, subscription, and sharing, we can bless more people together and witness the miraculous works of God. Today, let’s give thanks for the wonderful work of God using the Joyful Children’s Home in Myanmar to lead 30 villagers to faith amidst the turmoil of war. Please see the report below:
In the midst of continuous turmoil in Myanmar, the Joyful Children’s Home on the outskirts of Lashio has become a sanctuary for countless refugees. Despite the panic and unrest engulfing the entire country, the prayers of brothers and sisters have allowed people to feel the peace brought by the Lord.
Currently, there is a temporary ceasefire in Lashio, but war may break out again at any time, as other areas are still in conflict. In such an environment, the children’s home in the outskirts feels even more under pressure. Many villagers have fled, seeking refuge elsewhere, and some children are too afraid to come to the home for schooling.
Despite the hostile environment, the leadership of Pastor Dong Shihua along with the financially struggling Children’s Home has been able to help these minority ethnic refugees from other areas with the Love of Jesus Christ. Due to their displacement, these refugees face various difficulties, and the Joyful Children’s Home has provided them with shelter and food to the best of their ability. Some refugees fell ill and couldn’t afford medical treatment, so Pastor Dong went door-to-door to treat them and help cover their medical expenses. The Love of God has touched many refugees, and miraculously, amidst the war, 30 refugees have accepted Christ, including an entire family, which is truly a miraculous work of God.
Currently, the number of children regularly attending the Joyful Children’s Home has increased from around 50 to over 130. However, Pastor Dong has been concerned about the overcrowded teaching environment for the children, as the currently available classrooms are severely inadequate, with some children even having to stay in the kitchen.
The Joyful Children’s Home not only teaches students academically but also provides Bible lessons. We also insist on taking the students to the city for Sunday worship every week. However, due to the long travel distance and poor road conditions, they really need a car to be able to let the children attend worship in the city.
Brothers and sisters, please pray for the health of the teachers and children of the Joyful Children’s Home in Myanmar, as well as for the peace of the country. Especially right now, pray for the various needs of the Joyful Children’s Home, and for God to supply their needs in this special environment and provide a larger space for the 150 plus children who attend this home. This concludes our program. Please continue to follow our YouTube channel and Instagram. Thank you for watching, and see you next time.
